DAS Environmental Experts strengthens Customer Care in Southeast Asia with new subsidiary in Malaysia

Kulim/Malysia, November 9th 2022, today DAS Environmental Experts (DAS EE) opened its new office in Malaysia. The celebration took place in the KHTP Business Centre together with customers, business partners, members from the international DAS management board and the new team members of DAS Malaysia. With this milestone, DAS EE reacts to the growing demand for its point-of-use waste gas treatment systems in the regional semiconductor industry. Besides the service for the existing installed base, joint development projects with customers will be enforced. These projects will focus on innovative solutions in energy & resource management.

“So far, we have served our Malaysian customers from our office in Singapore. Within our customer meetings we could feel the urgency to establish a close local support. And less international travels for our team also serves a better environmental footprint. The idea of a new subsidiary was realised within a few months and we are glad to have the office, the team and the stock ready so quickly.” says Jörg Hoppe, Regional Head of Operations at DAS EE.

Environmental technologies for the semiconductor industry in the region

According to industry research, the ASEAN semiconductor market is projected to grow from $27.64 billion in 2021 to $41.88 billion in 2028 at a CAGR of 6.1% during the forecast period.* Although a big share is coming from China, the southeast Asian countries play a stable role in the global market.

In Malaysia the industry makes about 6 per cent of GDP and 40 per cent of exports. Malaysia’s most recent five-year plan — that ends in 2025 — expects the industry to contribute about 8 per cent of the country’s GDP as it shifts its focus to higher-value products and woos investment in design and research.(source)

Besides the semiconductor industry, the photovoltaics manufacturing plays a key role in the region. Point-of-use waste gas abatement systems of DAS Environmental Experts are applied in both industries and treat condensable, flammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic and/or pyrophoric gases and fine dust. Wastewater treatment systems can be designed to treat the wastewater from gas abatement process, or as central wastewater treatment for the whole fab. Wastewaters here are characterised by varying types of contaminants that require treatment. Organic substances, indicated by high COD/BOD values, can be reduced by biological processes. Physical and chemical treatment processes are used to remove inorganic compounds or solids.

Environmental Topics in the Industry

In the coming years, DAS EE plans further growth of the team on-site to optimise operations of the installed base in the region and close customer communication for all development projects.
