DAS MANAGING DIRECTOR RENÉ REICHARDT IS SAXONY’S ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Jury recognises sustainable growth strategy and site expansion of Dresden-based environmental technology company
Dresden, 12 May 2023 — An exceptional award for René Reichardt and the team of DAS Environmental Expert GmbH: At the award ceremony of the Saxon Entrepreneur Award 2023, the Managing Director of the Dresden-based environmental technology company wins the main category and is named “Entrepreneur of the Year”.
The jury, made up of representatives of leading Saxon media and business companies, thus honoured the successful long-term overall development of the mechanical engineering company founded in 1991, the contemporary corporate purpose and the entrepreneurial performance of René Reichardt.

Our development would not have been possible without a strong community, the great commitment of the workforce even in times of crisis, and the ongoing training and flexibility of all employees. Milestones in the company’s recent development
DAS EE is now one of the top three suppliers of exhaust and water treatment systems to the global semiconductor industry. The company’s customers include more than 500 companies and research institutions from 43 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America. In the last 5 years, sales have increased by 76 per cent and the number of employees* has increased by 77 per cent (comparison 2018 to 2022).
In addition to expanding its global presence against the backdrop of a steadily growing demand for environmental technologies, DAS EE can look back on a sustainable expansion of its headquarters in Dresden. Investments in innovations and research and development were as much a focus of the Dresden environmental experts as the continuous work on the corporate culture. DAS Environmental Expert is active on three continents with ten offices worldwide and currently employs approximately 850+ people.
About the award and prize-winners
The most important business prize in Saxony has been awarded since 2006. The initiative behind it pursues the goal of promoting Saxony’s economy and fostering entrepreneurial SMEs. Participating companies have their headquarters in Saxony, have been on the market for at least five years and employ at least 10 people. They are majority privately owned and the entrepreneur holds his or her own shares in the company.
Chief Executive Officer René Reichardt joined DAS Environmental Expert GmbH in 2005 and was initially responsible for setting up the service and sales companies in China and Vietnam. At the end of 2009, he returned to the DAS headquarters in Dresden and took over the management and strategic development of the Water Treatment business unit. René Reichardt has been Managing Director of DAS Environmental Expert GmbH since June 2016 and has led the company as sole Managing Director since 2021. He is a board member of Silicon Saxony e.V. and is involved in the Semi Advisory Board for sustainable development of the semiconductor industry. Personally, the topics of promoting young talent and equal opportunities are close to his heart. He therefore supports the Saxon state competition Jugend Forscht (Youth Researches) and heads a school working group in the field of electrical engineering.
