Environmental Analysis and Wastewater Analysis
The wastewater produced by DAS Environmental Experts’ customers is as unique as the products they manufacture. Our projects therefore begin with an on-site investigation and consultation, followed by sampling and laboratory analysis. This process is completed by test procedures on a laboratory scale or the use of a pilot plant on site. In order to plan new wastewater treatment plants or to upgrade and optimise existing installations, a comprehensive investigation of the existing wastewater is necessary first.
Basic data such as the volume of wastewater per production day, the temperature of the wastewater and the available space are crucial for the general design of a plant. Our laboratory experts also clarify questions regarding the composition of the wastewater and its constituents. Using a customised checklist, we work with you to develop an overview of parameters such as the following.
Analysis of important Wastewater Parameters
- Chemical and biological oxygen demand (COD, BOD)
- Adsorbable organically bound halogens (AOX)
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)
- Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX))
- Nitrogen content of ammonium (NH4‑N)
- Nitrate nitrogen (NO3‑N)
- Phosphate compounds (PO4‑P)
- Chlorides
- Heavy metals
- and more…
Chemical, Physical and Microbiology Laboratory Analysis of Your Wastewater
Wastewater analysis forms the basis for recording key data and developing a comprehensive wastewater treatment concept.
Our service portfolio begins with the analysis of wastewater on site or in our laboratory. In addition, we carry out tests in accordance with self-monitoring regulations, evaluate analysis results, and prepare technical reports and water and wastewater balances. On this basis, we identify potential for process optimisation.
You benefit from the direct link between the laboratory and the development and planning engineers, as well as the sound database for the development of a customer-specific process concept. This allows us to identify optimisation potential and save costs through process optimisation. Commissioning, sampling and optimisation are all carried out by a single source.
Wastewater Analysis in our Laboratory
After sampling on site, we carry out a basic analysis of wastewater samples in our laboratory in Dresden to determine their chemical composition. This enables us to develop processes on a laboratory scale.
We can carry out the following test procedures for you:
- Activated carbon tests
- Ion exchange tests
- Preparation of breakthrough curves
- Biological degradation tests
- Precipitation and flocculation tests
- AOP tests (advanced oxidation processes)
Wastewater Analysis using Pilot Plants
Based on the previous laboratory tests and the results of the test procedures used, the project design can begin. Alternatively, a semi-industrial pilot plant can be designed for direct testing on site. Our pilot plants are completely prefabricated and allow rapid analysis of even difficult-to-treat wastewater.
By using pilot plants, you save costs both in terms of investment and later operation, and can see the benefits of our service for yourself before placing an order.
A pilot plant offers you the following advantages:
- Easy transport and quick installation
- Low space requirements
- Optimal dimensioning of the required large-scale plant prior to investment
- Proof of the performance of the wastewater treatment or process combination prior to investment
- Determination of subsequent operating costs
- Recording of chemical and energy requirements
- Optimal technical support from our in-house technicians
- Professional evaluation of the trial operation and presentation of the technology by experienced engineers
Process Optimisation through Wastewater Technology
Increases in wastewater volume, changes in wastewater concentration, changes in wastewater constituents and/or changes within the water law permit often require the existing technology to be adapted or supplemented.
Our wastewater treatment laboratory supports you in optimising wastewater treatment technology that has already been implemented. The concept of green chemistry is at the forefront of our work. For us, this means increasing energy efficiency, reducing environmental pollution, using analytical methods to monitor environmental pollution and supporting safe processes.
Types of Wastewater Treatment
We support projects such as the expansion and/or renovation of an existing plant, the reprogramming of plant control systems or options for water treatment and multiple use with our in-depth analyses, thereby making a significant contribution to your operational and planning reliability.
With an experienced team of environmental experts, DAS Environmental Expert supports its customers in process analysis and optimisation. We check existing wastewater technology for effectiveness to ensure effective partial flow treatment or complete treatment for direct or indirect discharge. Our portfolio includes, among other things:
Biological Wastewater Treatment
- Breakdown of organic load
- Nitrification (oxidation of ammonia or ammonium ions to nitrate)
- Denitrification (reduction of nitrate to elemental nitrogen)
Chemisch physikalische Abwasseraufbereitung
- Fällung/Flockung
- Abtrennung von Störstoffen
- Aktivkohlebehandlung
- AOP-Verfahren
Supplement your Wastewater Analysis with Feasibility Studies
As part of feasibility studies, DAS Environmental Expert’s experts review various solution approaches not only in terms of their procedural suitability, but also in terms of their economic efficiency. In-depth analysis of project concepts and early identification of risks ensure greater planning reliability.
Feasibility studies can be either an agreed part of comprehensive planning or a separate project. They are therefore also suitable for obtaining a second opinion on proposed solutions.
