Community Involvement at DAS Environmental Experts

As the official sponsor of the Saxony state competitions for “Jugend forscht,” we’ve been on board since 2018. It’s a cause close to our hearts to actively support Germany’s most important competition for young talent in the STEM fields and to foster the spirit of inquiry among the next generation right here in our region. The projects demonstrate the curiosity, initiative, and problem-solving skills with which young people are already tackling complex issues today.

As part of the Girls’ Day Academy Dresden and the TryING initiative, we regularly open our doors to curious participants to give them a hands-on experience of technical careers right here on our campus and on the production floor. For us, this commitment is a key component of our efforts to nurture the next generation of talent, as it goes far beyond traditional, one-time career orientation programs. The particular value—especially of the Academy—lies in its long-term approach: This regular collaboration gives high school and college students the time they need to dive deeply into our specialized work environment, ask questions, and gain a realistic picture of future-proof career paths in environmental technology. 

Direct interaction with our employees and apprentices provides valuable guidance as they make career and educational choices. When participants experience firsthand just how diverse, for example, our mechatronics technician apprenticeship program is, it helps break down reservations and creates tangible role models. Especially against the backdrop of the growing shortage of skilled workers in STEM fields, these projects make an indispensable contribution to securing a sustainable supply of young talent in the region. As an international technology company, our goal is to inspire girls to take an interest in the natural sciences at an early age, break down existing stereotypes, and highlight new career prospects.

Sustainability and environmental awareness take root where curiosity is fostered from the very beginning. On the initiative of our staff, we have launched an exclusive educational program for the next generation of our teams and invite the kindergarten classes of our employees’ children to project days on our campus. Through age-appropriate, playful experiments focused on the core areas of clean air and clean water, we help children understand ecological concepts at an early age. This gives the children a fascinating insight into applied environmental technology.

Showcase the projects close to your hearts! This motto is lived out with deep conviction at our headquarters in Dresden. We firmly believe that the most effective social engagement stems directly from within our workforce, as our employees bring ideas inspired by their own daily lives and the local region. That’s why, every year, our team has the opportunity to nominate worthy social, athletic, cultural, or environmental initiatives from the Dresden area and its surroundings. Through a collaborative and transparent voting process, the entire team decides which five projects will receive financial support. In this way, we sustainably strengthen our community right on our doorstep.

In recent years, this has enabled us to support the following initiatives, among others:

• Dresden – Place to be! e. V. (Promoting Diversity and a Culture of Welcome)

• Förderzentrum „Johann-Friedrich-Jencke“ Dresden (Focus on Hearing)

• Löwenträne e. V. & Zentrum Lacrima (Support for Children Who Are Grieving)

• Zuckerstachel e. V. (Support Association for Children and Adolescents with Diabetes)

• Mein Baum – Mein Dresden (Citizens' Initiative for Local Reforestation)

Every year, the teams at DAS Environmental Experts and their families lace up their running shoes for a good cause. At the charity run organized by the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Dresden, every lap counts. For every lap run or walked, we donate two euros directly to cancer prevention and to the NCT’s pioneering sports, nutrition, and sun protection programs.

As an international company with employees from all over the world, we are firmly committed to social responsibility, openness to the world, and tolerance. That is why we are a proud member of Aktion Zivilcourage e. V., to actively support democratic culture and respectful dialogue. For many years, the organization has been working through educational initiatives, community projects, and counseling to strengthen democratic coexistence, break down prejudices, and encourage people to actively advocate for an open and diverse society. Together, we promote a climate of mutual respect - both in our region and far beyond.
