DAS EE provides information on permanent measures concerning corona virus
After becoming aware of the spreading of the virus, DAS Environmental Experts (DAS EE) prepared a pandemic plan and appointed a pandemic emergency team. At the beginning of the 12th calendar week, all planned meetings with third parties were, as far as possible, completed remotely. In addition, special home office regulations and a reduction in the level of occupancy in the offices were implemented. We provide information on the current situation and the ongoing measures below.
Rapid implementation of preventive measures ensures health and business operations
To prevent the spread of the virus, DAS EE implemented internal pandemic measures at an early stage, such as the introduction of a shift system in production and extended home office regulations for office staff. As a result, we were able to prevent an infection of employees and business partners and ensure stable business operations.
Maintenance of essential safeguard measures
With a gradual return to “normality”, DAS EE follows the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute Germany, the federal and state governments and the responsible ministries. We implemented the SARS-CoV‑2 occupational safety standard of the German government. The occupational health and safety of our employees, suppliers and other external persons visiting DAS Headquarters is of great importance to us.
The measures that are still in place include wearing a mouth and nose guard, keeping a distance of at least 1,5 m, and observing hygiene measures. In addition, Plexiglas partitions were installed in sensitive areas. Community and meeting rooms can still only be used to a limited extent.
To ensure a rapid response in the event of a renewed spread of the virus, the division of the workforce into A/B teams was documented and the pandemic plan was coordinated with all branches.
Stable business situation
DAS EE can still point to a stable order situation. In particular, the global high-tech sector — our largest customer market — has so far been largely spared by the crisis. In June, the global industry association SEMI (link to source) announced promising growth figures of 24% for global fab equipment spending in 2021. Although the existing threats posed by the COVID-19 outbreak will affect consumer markets, digital change and the need for communication (cloud services, server storage, games and healthcare applications) are strengthening the demand for storage and IT-related equipment — and thus the sales market of the semiconductor industry, for which DAS provides waste gas solutions.
We can also continue to support all planned projects in the field of wastewater treatment. Any site closures have now been lifted. The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has added to this with the status of April 9th, 2020:
“According to the current state of knowledge, transmission of SARS-CoV‑2 via the wastewater route is highly unlikely. According to the current state of knowledge, there is no risk from SARS-CoV‑2 for employees working at and in wastewater treatment plants outside the medical sector. […] Nevertheless, protective measures as formulated in TRBA 220 “Safety and health in activities with biological agents in wastewater treatment plants” must be observed”. (Link to source)
In both business units, intensive agreements were therefore made with our customers to implement joint protection measures. All service teams were equipped with FFP3 masks, so that in the end a 24/7 availability could be ensured.
Supply chain security
Our suppliers have also been an important part of our efforts in recent months in the areas of delivery reliability, innovation, cost development, complexity reduction and environmental management. In the context of our ongoing pandemic measures, it remains a particular concern of ours to create transparency about the situation in our supply chain and to be prepared for risks in good time. To this end, the Materials Management department is in close contact with our partners and suppliers.
Making work organisation more flexible
The home office regulations introduced before the crisis have also proved their worth in permanent use. An expansion of mobile working and special flexibility regarding the coordination of childcare have been the main features of the last few months. In the coming months, there will be an expansion of internal remote training courses on the use of O365 and methodological competence. All experiences will also be incorporated into the design of the new building at the Dresden location.
