DAS Taiwan Reaches Historic Milestone

Tainan, June 17th 2023 – Environmental experts from around the world gathered at the Formosa Yacht resort to celebrate the 25th anniversary of DAS Taiwan. The event, held under the banner of ‘Proud to be DAS Environmental Experts’, saw 350 employees and guests from Germany, the USA, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong come together to mark the occasion.

The anniversary was linked to the installation of the first DAS waste gas treatment system in the region in 1997. Alex Shen, Sr. Vice President DAS Asia and General Manager DAS Taiwan, reflected on the company’s history, noting that each year had brought its own challenges, with customers demanding high standards in environmental protection, energy saving and particle reduction. Shen added that DAS experts from Taiwan and Germany had always worked closely to provide the best waste gas treatment solutions for new processes.

The company’s success has been built on its closeness to customers and its international outlook. Taiwan was DAS’s first foreign market after the company was founded in Dresden, Germany in 1991. René Reichardt, CEO of DAS Environmental Experts, said the company was blessed to have a respectful, dynamic and dedicated spirit among its international colleagues and customers.

DAS and the Taiwan high-tech industry

DAS Environmental Experts has a strong presence in Taiwan, where it serves a wide range of high-tech customers, with a particular focus on the semiconductor industry. Taiwan has become a leading supplier of smart machines and semiconductors over the past 50 years, and as the industry has grown, so too has the demand for environmental technologies that address issues such as carbon footprint, energy and water usage, and hazardous waste.

DAS has worked closely with its 20 high-tech customers in the region to maintain and improve its installed waste gas treatment systems, as well as to develop new technologies through joint projects. This has made DAS the leading supplier of waste gas treatment and electrostatic collection solutions in Taiwan.

The company has service teams located in Linko, Hsinchu, Taichung and Tainan, and places a strong emphasis on providing the best technical support to its local customers. Of DAS Taiwan’s 300 employees, 250 work in customer care, including service and tech support. The company’s Innovation and Service Center in Hsinchu has trained over 1.000 Field Service Engineers since 2017, covering regular maintenance and troubleshooting. This experience and expertise have led to a remarkable success rate, with service contract coverage over 90% from DAS’s Taiwan customers.

What´s up next for DAS Taiwan?

The global demand for semiconductors is expected to remain high amid the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and autonomous vehicles. Sustainability will remain a key task for the industry worldwide. Taiwanese companies, such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), have pledged to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and invest in renewable energy and water recycling.

“We stay dedicated to serve our customers with innovative environmental technologies. As the industry keeps investing in the most advanced technology here, we have a mission to continuously balance industrial growth with the preservation of natural resources.” comments Alex Shen on the future of DAS Taiwan.
